Touching People for Jesus through an Open-air Movie

The Little Village Hispanic Church decided that it was time for a new, more aggressive evangelistic method: street evangelism.  The church is located less than half a block from 26th street, an extremely busy corridor in a densely Hispanic populated area.  The plan was to show the movie Last Day Events right there on 26th street (full-color and loud and clear!).  As people would pass by the “open-air theater,” church members would hand out free literature and also do one-on-one witnessing.  The date and time were chosen by the church board:  August 21-27 from 7 PM to 9 PM.

The Hispanic ministries department lent the church the sound system and also provided some of the literature.  Pastor Flores furnished the projector and screen.  The power for the electric equipment was supplied by the owner of the local pet shop (Agustin) and a witch doctor (Zeus).  Yes, you heard it right…a witch doctor.

The event was a total success.  Praise the Lord!  Members from all of the district’s churches got involved (i.e., Little Village, Cicero, and Wicker Park).  We had anywhere from 4 to 10 church members helping out every night.  Huge amounts of literature were passed out, and lots of people were touched for Jesus.

Some of the people who approached us showed great interest in attending our church (Antonio is already visiting our church!).  Others requested Bible Studies.   Some even inquired about the movie and a copy was given to them.

Please pray for us as we now follow up on all those who expressed an interest in our church.
